App suggests recipes based on fridge contents using AI
In January 2020, Whisk, the smart food app owned by South Korea-based appliance maker Samsung, launched an advanced Food AI app that offers cooking suggestions based on the contents of a user’s fridge.
Users save their favorite recipes, dietary preferences and location on the app and Food AI uses this information, as well as Samsung’s ViewInside camera that recognizes what’s in the fridge, to suggest recipes.
The app also considers situational clues, such as the weather and seasonality.
This innovation contributes to the no-waste initiative that we, as a country, need to get involved with.
Brands can utilise this feature and suggest ‘easy’ or ‘unusual’ food combinations that their product can be involved with.
